Half Marathon Training Program

This program is 12-16 weeks in length (depending on the session) and is designed to be small with lots of personal attention. Each group will be capped at 30 participants and will have its own identity based upon interests of the group. For example, each group will work together to schedule some fun activities during training season (e.g., shopping for running shoes and sports bras day, potlucks, stroller runs for those with children, serving at a local community organization, victory party, etc) with leadership from the coach. Each group will also help in the design of its t-shirts and will be given a 20% discount on professional triathlete Nicole DeBoom’s SkirtSports products (on which we can get our logo printed if desired) as well as a 10% discount on shoes at Runner's Roost.

Each of the 12-16 week programs will target a specific race and train for successful completion of that race whether you are a walker, runner or select to combine both sports in training. Session 1 will train from early June through September for the Buena Vista Autumn Color Run. It is a small race with lots of local turn out and an old fashioned good time. It is also beautiful! Those who feel they may not be able to handle the altitude at Buena Vista (It is a descending course) will train for the Boulder Backroads, an equally wonderful race. Session 2 will train from October through January (a slightly shorter program length) and will race in the Disney World Half Marathon in mid-January. Family is encouraged to attend! Lastly, session 3 will train from February through May and race at the Colorado Marathon in Ft. Collins or Steamboat half marathon.  Drive believes that if you are going to put forth the effort to train for an endurance event, choose an event that has stunning scenery!

Participants in the program will receive a binder and an article to read each week before we meet for our long run. The long run will take place on a weekend day and will be 2 hours (might go longer towards the end of training). At our long run, we will discuss the article, answer questions and concerns, work on goal setting and increase our running or walking time conservatively from week to week.
The Drive half marathon program is for the busy woman who wears many hats (wife, mother, sister, girlfriend, friend, daughter, employee, volunteer, etc). It is designed to be flexible. Other than the long run, workouts are completed on your time frame each week. If interested, participants will be matched with a training partner from the group who is similar in ability and geographic location to train with through the week between long runs.

There are other options for the woman who wants to participate and can't make the Saturday trainings.  Drive's small group sizes allows for programming to be easily customized to each participant to maximize the realization of her fitness goals.  Don't let life's worries stop you!  This program was created for you!

Drive’s half marathon program is different from others because it is so personal. So much of racing is mental. We all have things going on in our daily lives, obstacles to overcome, goals we wish to accomplish, etc. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find a community to which YOU can belong and be assured of so much support while you strive to find the new you always knew you could be?

Picture It. Believe It. Achieve It.

Come discover what drives you and push your mind, body and spirit to the next level. You can do a half marathon!
